Our Story

Stewart Ruth grew up in Switzerland where skiing, chocolate, and fine European bread became his lifelong passions. He moved to Vermont in the 1970’s and felt right at home in the Green Mountains, the only thing missing was the wonderful European crusty bread and artisanal buns and rolls from his youth.

After training in Europe, he returned to Vermont to open Williston based Stewart’s Bakery in 1987.

Today, Stewart’s Bakery continues the time honored European processes and recipes providing fresh, hand made, all natural, preservative free breads, rolls, and biscotti to local markets under the ownership and gastronomy of Jake and Stuart Warshaw.
